And the Winner IS.....

We decided to copy the Settlers of Catan Gamers on my side of the family and create a trophy to be coveted... a truly inspiring work of art that would lead one to the ultimate glory and the rest to "never rise from the ashes of their humiliation."  (Azula, Nickelodeon's The Last Airbender)  The winner must place the trophy in a prominent place in their home and add to it each time.

For Mason's birthday party, we played Settlers of Catan: Cities and Knights with our friends, the Paul's, at our house while a babysitter watched all or our kids at their house.  This would be a night to remember...

I made a turtle cheesecake for our dessert, and we had a lot of fun playing.  And the winner of the evening's festivities was..... Jennifer Paul!!!  But we currently have it in our family room  :)  Ha ha ha ha ha!

Happy Birthday, Mason!

The year is 2010.  Mason turned 33 years old!  The kids had fun celebrating their Daddy's birthday.  We bought him a balloon at the dollar store, and Asher accidentally let it go.  He was very distraught about the mishap, but Daddy relished in the dramatics of it.  We love the picture of Charley sharing in the spoils of the birthday cake.

She likes the cake!

Can I have some more, please?

Asher upset over Daddy's lost balloon.

If you look REALLY close, you may be able to see the 1 pin point in the middle of the picture that was Mason's balloon.

Wahhhmbulance!

33 Candles!

Happy Birthday, Babe!

The REAL Work Begins

The time had come to accept our house smelling like dog urine, or getting rid of the carpets.  We chose the latter.  We thought we'd do the prep work before Labor Day weekend 2010, and we'd finish tiling our entire house, excepting the bedrooms, over the break.  Completely unrealistic.
To begin, as Mason was helping me move things out of the room, he sliced his hand on the back of the computer.  We left for the ER immediately and he received the stitches as seen in the photo.

It turned out that Home Depot didn't have enough of the tile that we wanted in stock.  We were instructed to buy all of our tile at once so the color would be uniform.  This was a huge blessing since Mason's hand was so sore.  W decided to try and finish painting the room before our tile order arrived the next week..  I LOVE the green we chose.  It makes the room a little darker, but I think it looks a lot better than my white.  And yes, the kids have already added a touch of their own to it with crayon and vis-a-vis pens.  I'll add more pictures as we finish the front room.
I want to thank Mason here right now for all his hard work.  I tried to help him with the process, but for me, it was truly difficult.  He had laid all the tile by himself, and he's almost done with the entire front room including the entryway.  I'm blessed with such a hard working husband.  Thanks, honey.

Ouch!

When we were at the fabric store, Asher crashed his ear into one of the hooks on a shelf.  Poor boy!

Ruthie's Princess Party 2010

For RuthAnne's 3rd Birthday Party, we held a Princess Party.  I had a lot of fun with just the girls.  We played Cinderella, Where's Your Shoe? (AKA Huckle Buckle Beanstalk), painted fingernails, had cupcakes with Bling Bling rings in them, and opened presents.

Thanks to my friends, Jennifer Paul and Samantha Mack, for helping out.  And thanks to all our little princess guests for coming and for their gifts.
